Spruce Up Your Home this Halloween-image

Now that October is here, it’s time to put away the summer decorations and get your apartment ready for the Halloween festivities. Though Halloween is only a day in the month of October, the festivities can stretch throughout the entire month, which means you can find the right decorations for your home without having to search too hard! In this week’s Two East Congress Blog, we’ve got a few tips for you to help you spruce up your Tucson, AZ apartment this October.   Carved Pumpkins If you’re looking for decorations, you don’t need to look any further than the local grocery store or pumpkin patch! Get yourself some pumpkins to carve. Carving pumpkins allows you to let your creative side manifest itself, so pick something fun to carve or carve the traditional jack-o-lantern. Regardless of what design you choose, these pumpkins will add that fall flavor to your home.   Make it Spider Infested Creepy decorations are all a part of the Halloween atmosphere, so making parts of your home look spider-infested can accomplish that look for your home. The decoration is fairly simple: all you need is the fake webbing and plastic spiders that you can easily find at the store. There are many options to choose from when picking a place to infest, so choose wisely! We recommend choosing the door, since it’s the first thing any guests you invite over will see when they come over.   Bloody Handprints A simple way to spruce up your home is by making some homemade bloody handprints. To make this simple wall-cling, you’ll need the following ingredients:   Elmer’s Glue Red food coloring Blue food coloring Wax paper Plastic saran wrap   Once done, you can hang these up on any window or mirror in your house. This small addition to your home’s decorations can really bring the Halloween atmosphere into your home.

Halloween Movies-image

If you enjoy settling into your Tucson, AZ apartment and watching a movie, we suggest picking a movie that will help you get into the Halloween mood. There are many horror movies to choose from, so it can be difficult to pick one. In this week’s Two East Congress Blog, we’ll share with you our suggestions!   I Know What You Did Last Summer “A year after running over a fisherman and dumping his body in the water, four friends reconvene when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) receives a frightening letter telling her that their crime was seen. While pursuing who he thinks is responsible for the letter, Barry (Ryan Phillippe) is run over by a man with a meat hook. The bloodletting only increases from there, as the killer with the hook continues to stalk Julie, Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.)”   Halloween (1978) “On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith's Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.”   Hocus Pocus “After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.”   These Halloween movies, with the exception of Hocus Pocus, are intended for a mature audience so viewer discretion is advised.

Work Out this Summer-image

With the hot summer weather here in Tucson, AZ, you may not want to spend too much time outside exercising, but the summer is still a good time to get back into the habit of exercising for your personal health and well being. In this week’s Two East Congress blog, we’ve got some suggestions on how to transition back into working out!   Proper Attire The way you dress has a significant effect on your attitude toward working out. If you’re getting back into exercising, consider investing in some new clothes that look good and that you feel good in, since liking the way you look in workout clothes can motivate you to keep working out. Because Tucson is known for being hot, wear clothes that are light, breathable, and wick sweat away from your body!   Hydrate Whether you’re in warm weather or not, you’re going to need to remember to hydrate. During exercise, your body is exerting energy and increasing in temperature. When your internal body temperature gets too high, your body regulates it by sweating, which uses your body’s water to cool you down. Hydrating keep your body from shutting down and cools you off, making it easier to continue working out. Prevent injury and fatigue by drinking enough water!     Rest When you’re exercising, it’s important to be consistent in the gym to get the best results possible, but you don’t want to overdo it. More than consistency, your body needs rest. Resting helps your body to recover from the strain that it’s been through from your workout and helps you prevent injury! Give your muscles enough time to repair themselves before you head back to the gym! Your body will thank you.   Don’t Forget Leg Day There are more muscle groups than biceps, back, and shoulders. Though the vanity muscles are the ones that people see the most often, don’t neglect the other muscle groups in your body. This helps you to be stronger overall, and you won’t end up with skinny legs and a muscular torso.   We hope you take advantage of our fitness center this summer to get in your regular workouts. We love providing convenient amenities to members of our apartment community! Thanks for reading our post today.
